Rustic, country, and ours. A 1920s stone barn rebuilt by hand, farm tables down the length of the room, a ceremony under beautiful oak trees, and the foothills of Amador County's Gold Country behind everything — about forty-five minutes from Sacramento.

  • The barn. River rock and timber, eight-foot doors that open the whole west wall, a pine bar, candlelight inside and string lights over the patio.
  • The tables. Long wooden farm tables and chairs for every guest, included in every package — set bare, with runners, or with greenery down the middle.
  • The ceremony. Outdoors under beautiful oak trees with open range and the foothills behind the arch. April is green, September is gold.
  • The suite. A private room upstairs with an antique mirror and daylight on three sides, included for getting ready.
  • The wine. Our own Stone Barn Winery label on the tables, with a case included; the Shenandoah Valley wineries are a few miles up the road.
  • The place. A family-owned working ranch near Plymouth, California, yours exclusively for the day — a country wedding, a winery wedding, or a micro wedding for fifty.

How it works

How booking works

  1. Send an inquiry

Your date or season and a rough guest count. A person at the ranch reads every one, and nothing is held or charged automatically.

  2. Talk it through, see the barn

We'll be in touch to set up a phone call or a tour of the barn, and answer anything this page doesn't.

  3. Hold your date

Sign the contract and pay half the total as your deposit — that locks the date. Once it is accepted, the deposit is non-refundable.

  4. Plan the day

Bring your own caterer and vendors, or start with ours below. Event insurance ($1,000,000 liability, host liquor included) is due 30 days out, and the balance 30 days before.

  5. Rehearse, then celebrate

A two-hour rehearsal the evening before. On the day the barn is yours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; music ends at 9:00.

Questions

Before you ask

How much does a wedding at The Stone Barn cost?

Ceremony and reception packages are $4,500 for up to 50 guests, $5,500 for up to 100, and $6,000 for up to 150. Reception-only packages start at $3,000. Monday through Friday dates are $500 off every package, and a dry wedding — no alcohol served — is $300 off. The two stack, so a dry wedding Monday through Friday is $800 off. Sign your contract by December 31, 2026 for a 2027 wedding and take $500 off any package, on top of the weekday and dry-wedding discounts — up to $1,300 off in all.

How many guests can The Stone Barn hold?

Up to 150 guests, seated, with wooden farm tables and chairs included in every package.

What is included in a Stone Barn wedding package?

Venue access from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on your day, a two-hour rehearsal window the evening before, wooden farm tables and chairs, the upstairs studio suite for the day, an indoor bar, a case of Stone Barn Winery wine, outdoor garden lighting, and on-site parking.

Is there a getting-ready space for the wedding party?

Yes — a private studio suite upstairs in the barn is yours for the day, included in every ceremony and reception package.

Do you offer weekday wedding rates?

Yes. Monday through Friday dates are $500 off any package, and that stacks with the dry-wedding discount — a dry wedding on a weekday is $800 off.

Is there a discount for a dry wedding?

Yes — a dry wedding, meaning no alcohol is served, is $300 off any package, and it stacks with the $500 Monday-to-Friday discount: a dry weekday wedding is $800 off.

Do we get the venue to ourselves?

Yes — exclusive use of the barn, the patio and the grounds around them for your day, plus the evening before for your rehearsal. Yours is the only wedding happening.

Can we bring our own caterer and vendors?

Yes. We are happy to share our trusted local partners — planners, caterers and the rest — but you are always welcome to bring your own team.

What happens if it rains?

Typically couples rent a tent to cover one of the patios, which gives them a covered outdoor space for the ceremony and the dance floor — and keeps the barn free as an indoor reception space to enjoy the food.

Can our guests stay at the ranch?

No — the ranch does not host wedding guests overnight. Plymouth and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley wine country have lodging minutes from the barn.

Where does the ceremony happen?

Outdoors on the lower patio, with the foothills behind you and the ceremony arch provided by the ranch. The reception is in the stone barn, which opens onto the patio for cocktails.

Is wine included?

One case of Stone Barn Winery wine is included in every ceremony and reception package, and our own wines are available for your event.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes — outside alcohol is allowed. There is an indoor bar in every package, and a case of Stone Barn Winery wine comes with the ceremony and reception packages. If you would rather not serve alcohol at all, a dry wedding is $300 off any package.

Is there a noise curfew?

Yes — music ends at 9:00 p.m. Venue access runs to 10:00 p.m., so there is an hour after the music stops for goodbyes and load-out.

Do you provide outdoor heaters?

No — the ranch does not provide heaters. Evenings in the Sierra foothills cool off quickly outside high summer, so plan on renting them for a shoulder-season date.

Is there power for a band or DJ?

Yes — there is power at the barn for a band or a DJ.

Where do guests park?

On site at the barn. Parking is included in every package, so there is no shuttle to arrange and no off-site lot to direct people to.

Where is The Stone Barn Winery?

6525 Old Sacramento Rd, Plymouth, CA 95669 — on a 150-acre family-owned ranch in the Shenandoah Valley wine region of Amador County, in the Sierra foothills.

How much is the deposit?

Half the total, due at signing to lock in your date — so $3,000 on the $6,000 ceremony and reception package for up to 150 guests. The balance is due 30 days before the event.

Do we need event insurance?

Yes. Your policy must carry $1,000,000 in liability cover and include host liquor liability, and it needs to be in place no later than 30 days before your event. Your home insurer can often add it, or WedSafe (wedsafe.com) writes single-event policies.

What happens if we have to cancel?

Once your contract is signed and the deposit is accepted, the deposit — half the total — is non-refundable if you cancel. If something changes, tell us as early as you can and we'll talk through where things stand.

When is the final payment due?

The balance — the half not covered by the deposit — is due 30 days before your event date.

How do we book a date?

Send an inquiry including your desired date and guest count. Once we have that, we'll be in touch to schedule a phone call or venue tour.

Is The Stone Barn a rustic barn wedding venue?

Yes. It is a 1920s barn rebuilt by hand from river rock and timber off the ranch, with a pine ceiling, plaster walls, concrete floors and eight-foot timber doors that open the whole west wall. Couples dress it rustic, country, western or candlelit-modern — the bones stay the same.

Do you have farm tables?

Yes. Long wooden farm tables and chairs for your whole guest list are included in every package, for up to 150 guests. Runners, florals and place settings are yours to bring, and the tables take all of it — bare wood, cheesecloth runners, greenery down the middle.

How far is The Stone Barn from Sacramento?

About forty-five minutes from Sacramento International Airport by car, near Plymouth in Amador County. The Shenandoah Valley wineries are a few miles away, so out-of-town guests have somewhere to be the day before and the day after.

Can we do a small wedding or a weekday wedding?

Yes to both. The Micro Wedding package is $4,500 for up to 50 guests with everything the larger packages include, and Monday through Friday is $500 off any package. A dry wedding is another $300 off, and the two stack.

Is it a winery wedding venue?

The Stone Barn Winery makes its own wine — La Alma red and sēl white — and a case is included in every ceremony and reception package. The grapes grow at a high-elevation estate up the road in the Shenandoah Valley; the ceremony is under the oaks and the reception is in the barn.

Is it a ranch wedding venue?

Yes. The Stone Barn sits on a working cattle ranch in the Sierra foothills that the same family has run for three decades — oak groves, open pasture, ranch roads and the rebuilt 1920s barn. A ranch wedding here means exclusive use of the barn, the patio and the grounds around it for the day.
